Top 7 Reasons to Splurge on a Luxury Hotel
There are certain criteria one should look at in order for the luxury hotel to be worth it. I love luxury hotels but they have to create value for me, otherwise my money is gone to waste. Isn’t that all of us? haha! Some of these items you won’t necessarily know unless you’ve stayed there so do your research via reviews online, hotel website description or even call the hotel. Here are my Top 7 Reasons to Splurge on a Luxury Hotel:
LOCATION–One of my top criteria on determining if the luxury is worth the money is the hotel’s location. I would pay extra money if the location is closer to the attractions on a particular city, closer to the bars and restaurants I want to try or it has the ocean view that I want. I particularly like the W hotel in Barcelona since the location is by the ocean and just a few steps from the beach/barceloneta.
SERVICE–One of the most important factors when deciding which hotel to book is the service. A luxury hotel with bad service is definitely not worth it so I recommend reading TripAdvisor or other blogs/reviews online to determine if the place is worth it. From experience, one of the hotels with the best service is Hyatt Zilara Cancun.
PERKS–Another criteria is to determine if the hotel rate includes other benefits. These benefits may include free mini bar, breakfast, round trip airport transportation, butler service, etc. These costs can definitely add up. I recommend the Resort at Pedregal (now part of the Waldorf properties in fall of 2019) in Cabo San Lucas. The perks include a bottle of tequila, unlimited mini bar (water/variety of juices), chips/salsa and beer in the afternoon, beach bag and so much more!
SECURITY--I feel like if you’re in another country that you’re unsure of or don’t particularly feel super safe. I recommend spending more for the extra security that luxury hotels provide. Security includes a 24 hour security, guards/search dogs by the gate particularly in hotels in the third world country, etc. From experience, I’m so glad I spent extra money in Cuba at the Hotel Saratoga as I felt safer in the hotel with a strong security.
PLUNGE POOL–This is my favorite feature of any hotel room. I love having my own plunge pool especially when it’s overlooking the ocean. It’s like having your own infinity pool! One of my favorites is Capella Ixtapa now called as Cala de mar Resort & Spa or Sri Panwa Phuket hotel in Thailand.
BATH PRODUCTS–The male readers out there may not care too much about the hotel’s bath products but your girl probably does. Personally, I get super excited when the bath products are branded like L’occitane, Hermes, etc. When you smell good, you feel good! Therefore, when you get these amazing bath products, it’s worth the extra money. For Hermes bath products, try Maison Soquet in Paris, France. It’s voted the most romantic hotel in Paris and it’s just so gorgeous!
TURN DOWN SERVICE–This maybe sound so basic but not all hotels provide turn down service. Turn down service is when the housekeepers tidy up your room at night normally between 7pm to 9pm. They provide water by the end table, clean up the bathroom a little bit, some even put dessert on your bed/end table and set up your bed. I love this service and I like coming home after a night out with a clean room. The first time I experienced this was at the Mandarin Oriental, Miami in South Beach Miami.
Overall, there are a million ways why you should splurge a little on a luxury hotel and there are also so many ways why you shouldn’t. My top 7 reasons to splurge on a luxury hotel are just some of the ways to entice you. I recommend that you be realistic with your travel budget and if you can afford it, why not?
