Top 5 things I like about the Resort at Pelican Hill

I like traveling especially internationally. Lately due to Covid, I’ve sticked to the closest country, Mexico and have tried a few hotels nearby, a staycation. One of the hotels I stayed at in 2022 is the Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, California. The Resort at Pelican Hill reminds me of an Italian getaway. In fact, the architectural style of the resort is inspired by the work of an Italian architect. The hotel is grand and absolutely gorgeous. Here are the Top 5 things I like about the Resort at Pelican Hill.

  • Rooms–The resort offers various rooms ranging from bungalows to villas. These can either be ocean view or garden view. The size of the room is relatively big, approximately 900 sq ft for a regular bungalow and it increases from there when choosing suites/villas. For me, I had the Ocean view bungalow king room which was the perfect size, no complaints. The bathroom feels huge, includes a nice king size bed, a couch and it even includes a patio.

  • Food–I feel like having delicious food is a MUST to have a great experience in a hotel. This hotel did not disappoint. I ate at the Coliseum Pool & Grill for lunch which is situated on top of the heated pool area. OMG! The food was amazing but full disclosure, I was also super hungry when I came to eat here. I had the spicy chicken sandwich (fried chicken) with fries and I had to get the cinnamon churros for dessert as well. I gave it a 10/10. For dinner, I went to the Pelican Grill & Bar. The food was fantastic as well. I ate the grilled tomahawk steak with chimichurri sauce. In fact, you don’t even need the sauce, the steak itself is so tasty. The next day, I ordered room service for breakfast and the food was amazing. I suggest ordering the 3 egg omelet and French toast. Yum!

  • Spa–Ohhh la la! Their spa is absolutely gorgeous. The entrance itself feels soothing from the waterfall sounds in the lobby. After checking in, I sat down on the chair and each time I came to the spa, I only waited 2 minutes or less before someone welcomes me and gave me a tour of the facilities. Service is so fast here. The spa includes a hot tub to enjoy before/after your massage. Although I didn’t lounge in the hot tub area due to time constraint, it looked super relaxing. The massage itself was so nice and exactly what I needed. They were on time and the facility was immaculate.

  • Service–I feel like this could make it or break it with any vacation. In this resort, everyone was so accommodating from the shuttle drivers who took me around from one area of the resort to another, the servers/housekeepers and the employees in the lobby area. Everyone was so friendly. There was hardly any wait (well, except for the breakfast room service haha!).

  • Views–The resort itself is situated at the top of the hill so the views of the ocean is evident in most areas of the resort including the bungalows or villas, the lobby, the restaurants, etc. The golf course looks fantastic (even though I don’t golf). Luckily for me during my stay, the sunset was just as stunning.
