Best Places to Visit in Boracay, Philippines

Boracay, you might ask, where is that? Well, it’s one of the thousands of islands in the Philippines. Growing up in the Philippines, it was known as the party island. Hmm, kind of like a cheaper version of Ibiza? However, due to government regulations to make the island cleaner and safer, there are many activities that are now prohibited. Nonetheless, Boracay is still fun. Here are the Best Places to Visit in Boracay, Philippines:

FOOD

Okay, I’m a little obsessed with this restaurant, Gerry’s Grill. There are a few of this restaurant in Cebu, Philippines where I’m from and the food is just delicious. This is all Filipino food so I suggest getting the adobo shreds, bagoong rice, grilled squid, pancit bihon, etc. I’m craving these food just by typing this. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any pictures.

I’ve been to a lot of the restaurants in the various stations (strip along the beach) in Boracay. However, no one stood out other than Gerry’s Grill. I suggest you try the various restaurants and see if you like it. There are plenty of places to chose from. At night, most restaurants have a live band to entertain its diners. It’s such a different vibe than eating in Europe or USA but I love it.

BEACH

The beach in Boracay is super stunning with white sand, clear water and trees surrounding the beach. It’s very calming and definitely relaxing. The strip where the beach is located has a lot of hotels, restaurants and bars to pick from so be sure to walk around. Of course, souvenir shopping is evident from the street vendors nearby as well.

HOTEL

I absolutely recommend staying at The District. The service is top notch from picking me up from the airport, hotel and back to the airport. When reserving the room, be sure to select the round trip transportation if you’re coming from the Caticlan Airport. From the airport, you have to take a jeepney (public transportation) or van (private transportation) then ferry (public) or boat (private) then another jeepney or van to your hotel. Yes, it’s not super easy to get to your hotel in Boracay but I can assure you that the island is so worth it.

The District is in the Station 2 area, the location with plenty of bars/restaurants nearby, and the hotel is literally across the beach. You go out of your hotel lobby and you’ll see the beach. I LOVE IT! Additionally, the hotel is fairly big where their hotel rooms have patios, the hotel itself has a pool and a rooftop bar with the view of the beach.

To me, the best part of this hotel is the very reasonably priced spa. I received a complimentary 30 minute massage as a welcome gift and when I looked at the spa prices (with a discount for the week I was there), it was relatively cheap. For example, a 60 minute massage was about $20. I probably would have been in the spa a few times a day if I had more time. haha!

In terms of other hotels in Boracay, I’ve heard so many good things about Shangrila Boracay. If you want to be a little bit away from the hustle and bustle of Boracay and want to splurge, check out this hotel. I haven’t been but I’ve heard so many good things about this place which includes luxurious accommodation. They even have their own boat to pick you up from ferry area and drop you off in their property. I definitely want to check it out next time I’m back.

Overall, if you’re in the Philippines or Asia in general, be sure to check out Boracay, Philippines. Have you been? What are your favorite places?
